Wednesday July 21, 2010

We got started by about 9 a.m. and headed to the post office to add the extra paper and seal the envelopes for the great reunion and get them mailed. Then we went to Burger King for Breakfast and ran into our friend Isabella Villasenor. We talked for a moment and gave her a hug and were off to San Francisco. We set the GPS and sure enough our lady found 104 Montgomery Street in downtown SF, but ALAS! The Walt Disney Family History Museum is at 104 Montgomery Street in the Presidio. Now if you can tell me why the city fathers allowed 2 entities with the same address within one city, I'd like to hear you. Heaven help us! Well, we made it. We stopped to get directions and a guard directed us to the George Lucas Awards studio, where we took some photos of Darth Vader, and one other Star Wars character. A kind lady took a picture of us together by George Lucas' statue. The Walt Disney Family History Museum is great. However, they allow no flash photography any place and only photos with no flash in the award area behind check in. So, therefore, we have only photos of the awards, the Disney living room chairs and one Davy Crocket Cabin oil painting which they had on their wall at home. Walt Disney was a man with a huge imagination, lots of drive and a dream. He started out working in a jelly factory and became an American icon of untold wealth. The museum is fabulous with lots of interactive stations for the kids to play with. It is really well done. We were there about 3 hours. Then we headed south on highway 1, had dinner in a sidewalk cafe of pizza and salad in Santa Cruz and are staying the night in Watsonville. It was a fun day and the ocean is beautiful as always...kite surfers galore, and the weather is cold, would you believe that! I repeat...COLD!!!!!! And me in short sleeves.
