Tuesday August 3, 2010 Galveston Texas

This was a wonderful day...we found the George Herbert Walker Bush Presidential Library on the campus of Texas A and M University in College Station Texas. We spent almost 4 hours there and could have stayed longer but we were tired by that time. So, we headed south toward Galveston. It was 102 when we left and 100 when we arrived and the humidity is such that when you step outside of the airconditioned car/motel/resturant/building your glasses fog up as though you were in a sauna. Talked with Desi today, she got a new telephone so is able to receive calls again. This President is still alive and spends some of his spare time jumping out of airplanes at the ripe old age of 86. One thing I didn't know about him is that he was a Navyman and served in WWII, having been shot at he had to parachute from his plane and lost his two buddies in the process. That has always weighed heavily on his mind. He and Barbara had six children, one of whom died of leukemia at a very early age, a girl. He is a Yale Gaduate and member of the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity. See what with hard work and studying well you can achieve? Pay attention, kids. Once again we were reminded of the awesome burden the office of United States President holds for these men who choose to seek and attain it. I got the feeling today that at times the weight of the world is on their shoulders, and so they deserve our utmost respect and constant prayers.
